Our Privacy Statement

In it’s simplest form, the privacy policy of Music for Sight is something like:

 

“Your business is none of our business.”  Unfortunately, so many websites make such a daily practice of invading our privacy that a more complex and legalistic privacy statement is required.  So I went to http://www2.oecd.org/pwv3/pws12.asp and followed the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development guidelines and used their Privacy Policy Generator to create the following document.

 

In the formal statement below I mention the fact Music for Sight collects no data.  None.  However, some of the services we provide links to do collect personal information and you should visit those websites to review their respective privacy policies. 

 

We accept donations through PayPal.  And you will need to provide PayPal with some personal info.  PayPal collects and stores that data.  Music for Sight does not.  In fact, when we receive donations the only thing we know about the donor is his or her name and email address.  We only use that to send you a thank you note.  We may add your email address to our BLOG announcements which we send out from time to time.

 

If you use one of our links to Amazon.com to purchase books, music, etc., Amazon will require you to create an Amazon account to purchase from them.  While Music for Sight receives a small commission from the sale, we know absolutely nothing about who buys from Amazon.  All we find out in our Amazon Associate earning reports  is what was purchased.  No information is given to us about who purchased it.

 

The Google Adsense program is another way we try to generate revenue.  With this program, we get paid when someone clicks on an advertisers link.  We know nothing about who clicks on which link.

 

Our Top Links page offers to direct you to web sites that may have information you need for getting a guide dog, signing up for the National Library Service for the Blind, research information on RP and other diseases that lead to blindness, web sites created and published by other blind authors and a few entertainment sources.  We never know who, if anyone, ever clicks on any of those links.  And if you provide any of those web sites with any of your personal information, we know nothing about it.  Check each web sites privacy policy separately.
