Somewhere, over the rainbow, skies are blue.  Where the dreams that you dare to dream really do come true.

--E.Y. Harburg and Harold Arlen Over the Rainbow, from the movie The Wizard of Oz

I know it's true.  I was there once.  And one of my lifelong dreams did in fact come true.  It's one of the many reasons I say "I'm the Lucky One!".

I'm the Lucky One - The Labrador Shuffle Project

Being a dreamer at heart, I've got lots of dreams.  Some of them have faded away, some of them have been abandoned and some are still dreams.  One of those dreams though, one I considered "the impossible dream" did come true.

The dream was to find the inspiration to write some really good songs, and record them in a professional recording studio with a really good band, and produce them for public release.

Here's the story of how this dream came true for me...

When It All Began -

Where It All Began

It really began for me in the late winter of 2002.  I had decided in the spring of that year to make a career change and go for what I really love.  Making music.  I left my job as a computer guy and setup the back porch of my house as a recording studio.  With the kids at school all day and the wife at work, I was really able to focus on writing lyrics and composing melodies.

Then one day I wanted to take a walk down to the local park for a bit of air and inspiration and I couldn't find my cane.  I thought to myself that if I had done long ago what I had meant to do I wouldn't be looking for my cane, I'd be calling my dog.

So, instead of taking the walk, I started looking in to where to get a guide dog.
